Concerned Stakeholders in Apapa Local Government have rejected the choice of Miss Toluwalope Elizabeth Ayo Vaughan for Apapa State Constituency I seat in the state House of Assembly, reports thegazellenews.com
In a press statement signed by the group’s Coordinator, Chukwu Ukachukwu, and Publicity Secretary, Silifat Adeleke, the stakeholders alleged that Ayo Vaughan was a prominent figure in the #endSARS protest which led to huge loss of lives and properties not only in Apapa Local Government but also in the entire state.
They also alleged that apart from being an #endSARS protest coordinator, Vaughan was until recently an Obidient Movement mobilizer and a prominent figure in the Apapa LG chapter of the Labour Party.
Some of the stakeholders who spoke with thegazellenews.com include: Elder Mekuleyi Andrew from Nanti Village, Waterside; Mallam Isa Ishaku, Ward D, Mrs. Chinyere Nwosu and Princess Ayilara Ogbana
The stakeholders noted that the presentation of Toluwalope Elizabeth Ayo Vaughan by Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo was an affront on the party structure and a betrayal of loyal party members who have worked for the party over the years.
Thegazellenews.com learnt that the council Chairman has sited that being a Gen-Z as the criteria for her support for Vaughan.
The party faithful argued that it was ridiculous to support and present an aspirant who only recently joined the party at the last registration exercise last month which was a negation of the party guidelines for candidates to content for offices.
According to them, aspirant must have been a financial member and stayed in the party for a particular duration before contesting for an elective office.
The concerned stakeholders appealed to the party leadership not to allow this anomaly because the council Chairman boasted that she has the backing of the Villa in this sinister agenda.
She allegedly stated that she was asked to bring a woman to represent Apapa state Constituency I in the state Assembly. Ironically, the seat being contested for is presently occupied by the Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly, Rt Honourable Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.
