
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa state has elected its new state officials to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.
The election was conducted in Lafia on Saturday, through a consensus arrangement ratified by delegates from all 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
Mr. John Michael-Abdul emerged the new state chairman, other executive members including deputy chairman, secretary, treasurer, publicity secretary, and woman leader, zonal officials for Nasarawa North, Nasarawa South and Nasarawa West Senatorial Districts respectively were also elected.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman Michael-Abdul, who was a former deputy governor of Nasarawa state, pledged to reposition ADC as a credible alternative in the state politics.
He said they would focus on grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy, and issue-based engagement throughout the electioneering period and even beyond.
He explained that the officials would come up with a comprehensive work plan in the next 30 days to strengthen the party in the 147 electoral wards, 13 LGAs and the state.
The chairman therefore, expressed optimism that the party would take over the country and the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Speaking, the outgone chairman of ADC Barr. Paul Magaji, expressed gratitude to members for the opportunity to serve the party and appealed for the extension of the same support to the new leaders.
Earlier, chairman of the Congress Committee Mr. Kani Jibarang,
described the process as peaceful and transparent, noting that all positions were filled without rancour.
