The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with members of the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Government House, Bauchi.

NOP NIGERIA understands that the delegation included the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf.

According to Channels TV, the meeting was attended only by the three politicians, with other members of the state party executives excluded from the discussion.

Journalists were also barred from covering the meeting, which was held privately inside the Government House.

Governor Mohammed and the APC national chairman declined to speak with reporters after the meeting, describing the visit as a private engagement.

The development came barely a day after Mohammed expressed interest in joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

An ADC delegation led by a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, had visited the governor in Bauchi as part of ongoing political consultations.

Governor Mohammed described the ADC as a “more enduring and acceptable platform”, acknowledging ongoing talks to join the party.

He further promised a formal decision by Thursday, noting that any move would involve consulting stakeholders.

Although details of Wednesday’s meeting were not disclosed, the encounter has fueled speculation about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
