BREAKING: SAUDI ARABIA Sacks Head Coach Herve Renard 2 Months To World Cup

SAUDI ARABIA have sacked head coach Herve Renard, just as the nation prepares to kick off its 2026 World Cup campaign.

The decision comes two months before the 2026 showpiece gets underway in North America.

Renard, 57, confirmed he had been relieved of his duties as Saudi Arabia national football team manager with immediate effect.

The Frenchman’s departure has surprised fans given how close the tournament now is.

His exit follows mounting pressure after a worrying run of results in recent months.

Heavy defeats, including a humbling 4-0 loss to Egypt and another setback against Serbia, raised serious concerns over the team’s readiness.

And Saudi chiefs have now decided to pull the trigger in a ruthless bid to salvage their World Cup hopes.

Renard told AFP: “That’s football… Saudi Arabia have qualified for the World Cup seven times, including twice with me.”

“And there’s only one coach who has led them through both the qualifiers and the World Cup; that’s me, in 2022. At least there will be that sense of pride.”

Renard had only returned to the role at the end of 2024 for a second stint in charge.
