Chelsea booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a commanding 7-0 victory over League One side Port Vale at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

NOP NIGERIA reports that the Premier League side delivered a clinical and entertaining performance, overwhelming their lower-division opponents from start to finish to record the biggest win of this season’s quarter-finals.

Chelsea wasted no time asserting their dominance, taking the lead just 63 seconds into the encounter.

Jorrel Hato opened the scoring with an early strike that immediately put Port Vale on the back foot and signalled the beginning of a long evening for the visitors.

Joao Pedro soon doubled the advantage, before Cole Palmer’s effort, later ruled an own goal by Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel, extended Chelsea’s lead to three before the break.

The Blues continued their attacking display after the interval, showing no signs of slowing down.

Tosin Adarabioyo added the fourth goal with a powerful header, while Andrey Santos made it five after capitalising on a corner kick.

Estevao Willian then got in on the act, finishing from close range to further underline Chelsea’s superiority.

Chelsea completed the rout in stoppage time when Alejandro Garnacho calmly converted from the penalty spot to make it seven.

The emphatic scoreline highlighted the gulf in class between both sides and ensured a comfortable passage into the last four of the competition.

Manager Liam Rosenior made three alterations to his starting lineup, a decision that paid dividends.

Adarabioyo replaced Marc Cucurella in defence, Andrey Santos came in for Moises Caicedo in midfield, while Estevao Willian was handed a starting role ahead of Enzo Fernandez, all three players making notable contributions in the resounding victory.

Port Vale had entered the tie with confidence after their impressive fifth-round victory over Premier League side Sunderland.

However, they were unable to replicate that giant-killing feat, as Chelsea’s quality and depth proved too much on the day.

The Blues now march into the semi-finals full of confidence, with their sights firmly set on lifting the FA Cup trophy.
