A student of Covenant University has secured a ₦50 million grant under the Federal Government’s Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) programme to scale an artificial intelligence startup focused on software development efficiency.

Marvellous Itsuokor, a Computer Science undergraduate, emerged as one of the beneficiaries of the initiative, which is designed to support high-potential, innovation-driven startups across tertiary institutions. The grant was presented under the auspices of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Education.

Itsuokor’s startup, Pallo, is an AI-powered tool built to address persistent challenges in codebase documentation. The platform automatically analyses and documents code, enabling engineering teams to improve workflow and reduce time spent revisiting legacy systems.

Speaking on the development process, Itsuokor said the product was built within three weeks of application. “Execution matters more than ideas,” he noted, adding that he handled development, design, and marketing independently during the early phase.

He also credited institutional support for his success, noting that Covenant University provided an enabling environment for participation in the programme. Itsuokor was among a limited number of finalists representing private universities.

With the ₦50 million seed funding, the startup is expected to expand its capabilities and target global adoption, positioning Nigerian student-led innovation within the competitive global technology ecosystem.
