US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the US navy fired upon and seized and Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman after it failed to heed to repeated warnings while leaving the Strait of Hormuz.

This is the first such instance since the US-enforced blockade of the crucial waterway last week, which attempted to block every ship headed towards and leaving from Iranian ports.

In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote that the ship, which is as big as 900 feet long and weighs “as much as an aircraft carrier”, tried to get past its Naval blockade and it “did not go well for them.”

“The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room. Right now, US Marines have custody of the vessel,” the US President wrote further.

As per the US Central Command, the ship failed to comply with warnings to stop for over six hours, following which, the navy ordered the ship to evacuate its engine room, before firing several rounds from a five-inch MK45 gun to disable the vessel.

Trump said that the ship, called TOUSKA, has been under sanctions from the treasury department and is now under US possession.

On Sunday, Trump mentioned that the US has offered Iran a very fair and reasonable deal and that if they do not take it, the US will knock out every single power plant and bridge in Iran. He also announced that the US delegation will head to Islamabad for the next round of talks with Iran.

However, Iran’s news agency IRNA has said that reports circulating about a second round of negotiations in Islamabad are false citing excessive and unrealistic demands by the US, a continuous shift in their stance and their ongoing naval blockade.
