‎The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance, and unity as the nation celebrates Easter.

‎He urged citizens to reflect the values of the season in their daily interactions, regardless of differences in religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.

‎This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Communications and Media, Paul Odenyi.

‎Odenyi said the NOA boss described Easter as a season of sacrifice, reconciliation, and renewed hope.

‎According to him, Issa-Onilu stressed the need for Nigerians to rise above divisions and work towards national unity.

‎He noted that the country is currently at a critical point in its history.

‎The NOA DG said Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and the collective will of its people.

‎He, however, warned that terrorists and criminal elements remain a major threat to national unity.

‎According to him, such groups are bent on destabilising the country.
‎Issa-Onilu cited recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri and violence in Jos as evidence of the threat.

‎He assured Nigerians that the government is committed to tackling insecurity across the country.
‎Odenyi said the DG called on Christians and Muslims to stand united against terrorism.

‎He stressed that terrorists are common enemies who must not be allowed to divide the nation.

‎Issa-Onilu also urged religious leaders and community stakeholders to promote peace and tolerance.

‎He called on the media and civil society to counter hate speech and divisive narratives.

‎He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful Easter celebration
