The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of over 57,000 personnel across the country as part of efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, approved the large-scale mobilization, which includes specialized tactical units and intelligence operatives. The deployment covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), targeting enhanced protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).

According to the NSCDC, the operation is a proactive step to prevent potential security threats during the festive period. Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, and Provosts of Colleges have been directed to intensify security measures within their respective jurisdictions.

High-traffic locations such as churches, shopping malls, parks, and recreational centres will be closely monitored through both visible patrols and covert operations aimed at deterring criminal activities.

Prof. Audi emphasized the need for vigilance and strong collaboration among security agencies, noting that timely intelligence sharing and rapid response mechanisms are critical to the success of the operation.

“Our goal is to ensure a seamless and secure Easter season. We are working closely with other security agencies to maintain order,” he said, while also urging parents and guardians to guide their children and discourage involvement in activities that could threaten public peace.

Specialized units, including the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS), Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad (SFS), and the Crack Squad, have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any security breaches.

The NSCDC also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation.
