The lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, Thursday commissioned two solar-powered motorised borehole projects in Ndiagu Azu Oha-Nkwu, Ndufu Alike community, Ikwo local government area.
The commissioning, which attracted community leaders and stakeholders, underscored the growing importance of grassroots-driven interventions in Nigeria’s broader development agenda.
The projects were facilitated by the coordinator of Ikwo East Development Centre, Apostle Emmanuel Mbam, to improve access to clean and potable water in rural communities.
Speaking during the event, Ogah described access to safe water as a fundamental necessity with direct implications for public health, productivity and overall quality of life.
He commended the initiative, noting that community-level development efforts play a vital role in complementing federal and state government programmes across the country.
“Interventions like this show that governance is most effective when it touches the lives of people at the grassroots. Clean water is not a luxury, it is a basic need,” he said.
The lawmaker further praised Mbam for his leadership and responsiveness to the needs of the people, adding that such initiatives align with national priorities on sustainable development and poverty reduction.
Ogah also highlighted the importance of synergy among the different tiers of government, applauding the alignment of the project with the policy direction of the Ebonyi state government under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
He said replicating state development frameworks at the local level enhances service delivery and ensures inclusive growth.
