FARA, ARCN intensify preparation towards 9th AASW

The 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW) scheduled for 27-30th July, 2026 is gaining momentum as Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), have taken this initiative to key stakeholders across the country for stronger synergy.

In an Officer statement by the Public Relation Officer to the Executive Secretary, ARCN, Khadijat O. Ameen, disclosed that the Executive secretary Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, (ARCN) , Dr. Abubakar Adamu Dabban led the FARA delegation to the office of the Minister of Agriculture and food security, Dr Abubakar Kyari .

Speaking at the visit, Sen. Kyari harped on the need to bring forth Nigeria’s innovation and technological advancement while also sharing ideas on ways to proffer solution where it is lagging behind.

Sen. Kyari while pledging support to the conference also said this is a good initiative that would be encouraged.

“The delegation had a stop at the Ministry of Livestock Development, where the Minister, Dr Mukhtar Maiha highlighted areas that the conference needs to touch on. These areas according to him includes wooing investors in the production of quality livestock farming tools.

Dr. Maiha in his warm reception also Pledge full support of his ministry and promised to participate in the initiative where necessary.

Also speaking Prof. Oluwole Fatunbi, briefed the Minister on the readiness to collaborate closely with the Nigerian team to ensure a world-class science week, with events tailored towards innovations bringing stakeholders together in positioning the sector, all hopes are high for a successful Agrifood weeklong event.
