
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Wednesday said operatives foiled a ‘one chance’ robbery attack, and recovered 17 stolen vehicles from different parts of Abuja between March and April 15, 2025.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, who stated this while parading some of the suspects at the command’s headquarters, said 14 suspects were arrested during the period.
“Some of the recovered vehicles have been returned to their genuine owners after due verification and some are still here with us pending the identification of the rightful owners,” he said.
According to the CP, the suspects arrested include: Mustapha Difcha (m), Ahmed Difcha (m), Sanusi Isa (m), John Emmanuel (m), Blessed Yusuf (m) and Chinaza Ijere (m).
Others are Joshua Luka Dagana (m), Mohammed Sabiu (m), Zakariya Liman (m), Babajo Ishaya (m), Cornellius Abang (m), Sani Kabiru (m), Gambo Ibrahim (m) and Jakuta Kandoki Ibrahim (m).
Explaining how operatives busted the one chance robbery, the CP said: “On the 10th of April 2026 at approximately 4:30am, police operatives attached to Central Police Station while on routine patrol, sighted a suspicious a black Hyundai vehicle with Reg. No: ABJ 371 DZ parked along a lonely road.
“Suspecting foul play, the patrol team approached the vehicle to ascertain its occupants. Upon sighting the police team, three suspects alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the officers in an attempt to evade arrest.
“The officers responded decisively injuring and arresting one of the suspects, later identified as Jakuta Kandoki Ibrahim (m) while other members of the gang fled into the nearby bushes.
“A search of their vehicle led to the discovery of two female victims tied up with ropes laying in the back seat.
“Upon their rescue, one of the victims disclosed that she had been raped by one of the suspects while in the vehicle.”
