The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new turn on Thursday as key loyalists and associates of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, announced their exit from the party.

The PDP has been engulfed in internal disputes in recent months, with factions reportedly aligned either with Governor Makinde or the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Reports indicate that several prominent supporters of the Oyo governor have now left the party, announcing their resignation in different locations on Thursday.

Although there are speculations they may be heading to the Allied Peoples’ Movement, none of the defectors disclosed their next political destination.

It was gathered that no fewer than ten notable party members in the state have already dumped the PDP.

Among those who resigned are gubernatorial aspirant Ambassador Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, Special Adviser on Security to the governor Fatai Owoseni, and Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area Akeem Olatunji.

Others include Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly Abiodun Fadeyi, members of the House of Representatives Anthony Adepoju, Abass Adigun, and Adedeji Olajide.

Fadeyi, who represents Ona Ara State Constituency, confirmed his exit, citing the ongoing internal crisis within the party as his reason for leaving.

He said: “Yes, I am also leaving the party. I am defecting, of course. The reason is what others are giving. It is due to the internal crisis.”

Olatunji also attributed his resignation to the party’s internal struggles, describing the situation as unhealthy for governance and representation.

He stated: “Yes, it is true. Due to the internal crisis. The party has been badly affected. We need to give our people the opportunity to enjoy good governance.”

As of the time of filing this report, more loyalists of Governor Makinde were reportedly preparing to leave the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.Continue Your, Reading. .
