Unknown Gunmen on Thursday gunned down a traditional ruler of Isinkwo community, Eze Josephat Ikegwu, in the Isinkwo community, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According to reports, the late royal father was killed barely one month after the gruesome murder of Eze Francis Igwe, the father of the former deputy Governor of the State, Barrister Kelechi Igwe.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Abakaliki, the Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area Hon Ikechukwu Ogbofia, said that the police were investigating the ugly incident.

Investigation reveals that the late Ikegwu was killed at his residence, in the presence of his wife, who entered his bedroom and shot him.

When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said that he was yet to confirm from the Divisional Police officer in the area.

It would be recalled that in 2022, the late monarch Eze Ikegwu was suspended by the then government of Engr David Umahi for alleged failure to restore peace and security in his community.
