Gunmen Open Fire On Chief Of Staff’s Convoy

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Thursday attacked the convoy of the Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Mouktar Lugga, along the Funtua–Gusau highway.

NOP NIGERIA reports that the attack took place around 6:16 p.m. near Kucheri village while Lugga was returning to Gusau from an official event.

Reports from Zagazola Makama indicate that the assailants appeared from both sides of the road and opened fire on the vehicle carrying the chief of staff, his driver, and two other passengers.

One bullet pierced the windshield, narrowly missing the driver, and another gun failed to fire at close range.

Despite the gunfire, the driver managed to maneuver the vehicle out of the danger zone. All passengers escaped without injuries, and the convoy continued safely to its destination.

Authorities are investigating the attack, and security measures have been intensified along the route to prevent similar incidents.

In other news, gunmen on Wednesday night attacked communities in Plateau State, killing two persons and injuring two others in separate incidents that have heightened fears among residents.

One of the attacks occurred in the Heipang community, opposite the Plateau State Polytechnic, where a woman was shot and later died from her injuries.

According to reports, the attack happened in the Ban community, Heipang, at about 11 p.m., when gunmen invaded the area and began shooting sporadically.
