Former Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra, has once again taken a swipe at ex-Arsenal forward Theo Walcott for comparing the legendary 2008 Manchester United side to the current Arsenal team challenging for the title.
Walcott had, in January, stirred reactions among fans when he posed a controversial question to Wayne Rooney ahead of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League clash with Inter Milan.
In the exchange, Walcott asked if the 2008 Manchester United team could match up with Mikel Arteta’s 2025/26 Arsenal squad.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Rooney, who was a key figure in that United side, gave a blunt response, insisting his team would “batter” the present-day Gunners.
Reacting at the time, Evra did not mince words, claiming Walcott must have been drunk to make such a comparison and advising him to stop working as a pundit.
The former left-back doubled down on his criticism during a recent conversation with his former United teammates, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs.
When Ferdinand referenced Walcott’s comments, Evra jokingly threatened to walk off the show before launching into another scathing remark.
“That’s the problem with Arsenal. Now he’s (Walcott) comparing this team to our 2008 team,” Evra said.
“I believe he is a threat to society. He should not be in the TV. Like comparing… No, he’s dangerous for the kids. That’s why I keep saying they are delusional.”
‘They Are Acting On False Beliefs’
The Frenchman also recalled a previous video where he likened Arsenal’s title ambitions to a scripted Netflix series, questioning the team’s credibility in the title race.
“And I know I speak from the heart, but they are acting on false beliefs,”he continued.
“This is disrespect. He should never be on TV again if he starts asking questions like that.”
