Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has shared fresh insights on his emotional state following the recent death of his newborn daughter just hours after her birth.
NOP NIGERIA recalls that Doyle and his new wife, Olufunmilayo, recently welcomed their first child together. However, their joy was short-lived as the baby passed away shortly after birth.
Sharing his thoughts about the development, Doyle, in a late Monday post via his Facebook account, said the grief of such happenings doesn’t pass as an event, but becomes a constant companion.
He added that words might be too small to describe the weight of such griefs he described as “unwelcome but ever present.”
“There are moments in life when words feel too small for the weights we carry. Grief, it is not an event; it is a companion. Familiar, unwelcome yet ever present. I stand before you not as one who has read about sorrow but as one who has walked in it,” he said.
Despite the situation, the actor who recounted the pain he has endured over several years of losing different loved ones, declared that he is standing strong.
He attributed the strength to something greater than himself.
“I have known the pain of losing a beloved wife, the heartbreak of burying a son and now the fresh wound of laying to rest a child born only a few days ago. And yet in the midst of all this, I can say with conviction, I am still standing. Not because I am strong in myself but because I am held by a strength greater than my own,” he said.
