Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has shared his position on the 2027 presidential election and his possible involvement in the race.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Fayose said he is open to contesting for the presidency, especially if he is chosen as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He made it clear that he is willing to face President Bola Tinubu if given the opportunity by his party.
Fayose explained that his interest in the race is tied to the party’s internal process, noting that the party convention remains the proper way to select a flag bearer.
He said he would respect whatever decision is reached and align himself with the outcome.
According to him, anyone seeking such a position must be prepared, build strong support across the country, and have a clear plan to connect with the people.
He said: “I would love to contest against BAT; if the PDP picks me as flag bearer, I will do my best.”
In other news, Fayose has predicted that former vice president Atiku Abubakar is likely to get the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket.
According to Fayose, while Peter Obi is talented and respected, becoming president at this point remains challenging.
