The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has announced that the reported rift between Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, has been amicably resolved.

The group, in a statement signed by its President-General, Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, and made available through its Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide, on Sunday, said tensions surrounding the relationship between the two leaders had been successfully doused.

It described the development as a product of dialogue and established traditional conflict-resolution mechanisms in Ibadanland, stressing that peace had been restored.

The council also dismissed speculations of a looming constitutional crisis, including alleged plans to impeach the governor or dethrone the monarch, insisting that such claims were unfounded.

According to the statement, “The issues between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan have been resolved amicably, and the external forces that attempted to create a crisis around the situation have been defeated.

“Nobody is planning to impeach Governor Makinde, and nobody is also planning to remove the Olubadan from his throne.”

The CCII further maintained that Ibadan’s revered traditional institution and political leadership remained intact, urging residents and stakeholders to disregard rumours capable of disrupting the peace of the ancient city.

The council reaffirmed its commitment to preserving unity and stability in Ibadanland, noting that collaboration between political and traditional authorities was critical to sustained development.
