Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, the founder of Ogilisi Igbo Foundation has called on elders of Igbo land to launch a crusade for reinvention of moral and social values which the people were known for.
Ezeonwuka who is the Spiritual Leader of Igbo nation said Igbo were known for industry, honesty, hard work and communal support.
He regretted that Igbo have opened themselves up to foreign religions and values which do not encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship, wealth creation and focus that guided them through and after the war.
He said it was unfortunate that the labour of Igbo billionaires including Ekenedili Chukwu, J. Nwankwu, Ferdinand Enterprises, M.N Ugochukwu, Sir, Louis Ojukwu, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and their investments had been lost.
According to him, Igbo elders allowed the theft and destruction of Igbo deities by the so-called churchgoers and complete eradication of cultures and traditions.
“Other tribes kept their cultures and traditions, I am talking about our tradition and culture, not Oke-Ite.
“How come they allowed the use of dead bodies for caricatures in the name of befitting burial instead of immediate burial of the body and ceremonise the funeral later.
“Why can the elders not tell most men of God that they are deceiving our youths with brainwashing miracles of breakthrough, they should stop using Jesus to scam our young ones,” he said.
Ezeonwuka said prosperity teaching and miracle wealth were encouraging idleness which he described as devil’s workshop.
He said the elders must caution Igbo youths against pride, arrogance and spraying of money which attracts envy of other tribes.
Ezeonwuka called for a review of the education system regretting that most companies in the area were being shut down due to lack of manpower with requisite skills to run then.
“The youth have nothing useful to occupy their minds, their porous minds are occupied by evil activities
“We are losing our youthful generation because they are not ready to engage in apprenticeship, sports, wine taping, agriculture, skills ǰob or join any force like the Army, Navy, Police.
“We must teach them who we are, because our adage says that the elders must talk and the consequences of not hearing will be on the youth,” he said.
