The Chairman of Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, has added another remarkable milestone to his growing profile of leadership excellence after being conferred with an honorary Doctorate Degree as a Fellow in Strategic Leadership and Public Resources Management by the Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management and Politics, Ghana.
The prestigious recognition was presented during a colourful ceremony held on Thursday, 8 May, 2026, at the Chairman’s office, further reinforcing Hon. Saliu’s reputation as a committed grassroots administrator whose leadership style continues to attract commendation within and beyond Nigeria.
The latest honour now brings to three the number of professional recognitions received by the council boss since assuming office in July 2025.
He had earlier been decorated with Fellowship awards by the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria and the Institute of Planning, Nigeria.
Presenting the award, the Institute’s Liaison Officer in Nigeria, Dr. Philips, described Hon. Saliu as a visionary and development-focused leader whose dedication, integrity and unwavering commitment to effective governance have positively transformed the lives of residents across the LCDA.
According to him, the chairman embodies the true essence of responsive grassroots governance through humility, accountability and a deep sense of responsibility to the people.
“He is widely regarded as a leader who understands the needs of his community and works diligently to address them through sustainable and inclusive policies. Indeed, he stands as a shining example of responsible leadership and effective public resource management at the grassroots level,” he stated.
Dr. Philips further noted that Hon. Saliu’s administration has been defined by pragmatic governance, people-oriented initiatives and visible community impact, stressing that his commitment to service delivery continues to distinguish him among contemporary local government administrators.
Among the achievements highlighted during the presentation were the commissioning of strategic road and drainage projects aimed at improving mobility and tackling flooding challenges within the council area, strengthening of administrative efficiency through improved staff welfare and operational support, as well as the implementation of healthcare and educational interventions targeted at improving residents’ wellbeing.
Other notable initiatives include free medical outreach programmes, distribution of educational materials to students, and youth empowerment and community engagement programmes designed to promote inclusive growth and social stability.
