The Inspector-General of Police has directed officers captured in a viral stop-and-search video to report at the Force Headquarters, as part of ongoing disciplinary procedures aimed at addressing alleged misconduct.

The directive, according to police authorities, underscores the renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to accountability, professionalism, and respect for citizens’ rights.

Force spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the move reflects the leadership’s resolve to strengthen internal discipline and ensure that officers operate within established rules of engagement.

He noted that the development followed public concerns generated by the viral video, stressing that such feedback continues to shape reforms within the Force.

“The Nigeria Police Force values the concerns of the public, which continue to reinforce our commitment to accountability and professional standards,” he said.

Adejobi urged officers nationwide to exercise restraint, remain professional, and uphold the fundamental rights of citizens in the course of their duties.

He reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to discipline, justice, and the preservation of institutional integrity, warning that misconduct would not be tolerated.

The police spokesman also assured Nigerians that appropriate sanctions would be meted out based on the outcome of the ongoing disciplinary process.

The incident has further reignited calls for improved policing standards and stricter oversight of stop-and-search operations across the country.
