Iran-US-Israel War News LIVE Updates: Iran rejects talks under pressure as Israel strikes southern Lebanon despite a 10 day ceasefire, US says it is winning the war, rival delegations may meet in Islamabad.
Iranian authorities said they would not participate in talks conducted under the “shadow of threats”, as per Al Jazeera.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump asserted that American forces were performing strongly in the conflict. Trump said the United States was “winning a war by a lot,” adding that military operations were going “very well”. He also criticised coverage by major US media organisations including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.
“If you read the Fake News… you would actually think we are losing the war,” Trump wrote, adding that the “enemy is confused” due to such reporting.
Meanwhile, Israel continued air strikes in southern Lebanon despite a temporary 10-day ceasefire. Six people were reportedly wounded in an air attack on the town of Qaaqaaiyet El Jisr, while homes were demolished in Khiam, raising concerns about violations of the truce, Al Jazeera reported.
Attention is now turning to potential negotiations in Islamabad. A US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Pakistan for talks aimed at ending the conflict. The delegation is also likely to include Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
Iran may also send a delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, though his participation could depend on whether Vance attends the meeting, as per AFP.
The proposed talks follow earlier negotiations in Islamabad that failed to produce a breakthrough, with both sides accusing each other of violating ceasefire conditions.
