Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have announced their resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The lawmakers include Sani Wakili representing Minjibir/Ungogo federal constituency; Muktar Zakari, who represents Tarauni federal constituency; Umar Datti for Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam federal constituency and Abdulhakeem Ado who represents Wudil/Garko federal constituency.

The House of Representatives members announced their resignation on the floor of the plenary on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

In a letter addressed to the speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, the lawmakers said they are officially joining the African Democratic Party (ADC).

They cited the instability and leadership crisis rocking the NNPP as their reason for defecting from the party to the coalition party, ADC.

In the same vein, two other lawmakers also announced their resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers are Chinedu Martins who represents Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte federal constituency of Imo State and Kabiru Amadu (Mai Palace) of Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency of Zamfara State.

Messers Martins and Amadu said their decision following the persistent crisis rocking the PDP.

While also appreciating the PDP for giving them the opportunity to excel in their political career, the duo said the APC would be of greater service to their constituents.
