PREMIUM TIMES reports that both sides were due to commence a second round of direct talks on Tuesday.
US President Donald Trump has announced an extension of his country’s current ceasefire with Iran.
Mr Trump said on Tuesday that the United States is extending the ceasefire with Iran until an Iranian proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded.
PREMIUM TIMES reports that both sides were due to commence a second round of direct talks on Tuesday but Iran refused to send a delegation to Pakistan for the talks after accusing the US of violating the ceasefire, which was due to end Tuesday night.
Iran said it would not negotiate under the “shadow of threats” while a US naval blockade of its ports was still on.
The extension of the ceasefire means the warring parties will not resume the war that started on 28 February when the US and Israel launched unprovoked attacks on Iran.
