
The Kano state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, weekend disbursed N50, 000 each to 6,680 women to enable them support their immediate families.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s chief press secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Sunday.
The disbursement ceremony, which held at the Government House, Kano on Saturday was attended by thousands of women from 44 l
local government areas and faithful members of the APC.
Governor Yusuf stated that the N50, 000 monthly empowerment grant would enable beneficiaries to contribute to the growth of petty trading across the state.
He revealed that these disbursements have been ongoing since the inception of the current administration, adding that the standard of living for thousands of less privileged women has already improved significantly.
The governor expressed his appreciation to the State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, the chairmen of the 44 local government councils and APC members for their roles in ensuring the programme achieved its goals.
In his remarks, the speaker, Kano state House of Assembly, Hon. Jirbin Ismaila Falgore, urged the beneficiaries to take the support as a blessing and appealed to them to make the best possible use of the funds.
In their respective speeches, a member representing Fagge Federal Constituency, Shehu Mohammed Bello, the chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hajiya Saadatu Yushau Soja and APC Women Leader, Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi Dala, commended Governor Yusuf for his commitment to human capital development and its direct impact on the citizenry.
