
The Kebbi state government, Tuesday warned intending pilgrims against any form of misbehaviour or misdemeanour during the 2026 pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The government stated that appropriate punishment would be meted out to any unbecoming pilgrim in the course of the hajj and on return to Nigeria.
The executive chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Faruk Aliyu Yaro Enabo, gave the warning in Birnin Kebbi, while inaugurating the Disciplinary Sub-committee, Security Committee and other sub-committees to handle all aspects of the pilgrimage at home and in the Holy Land.
Headed by the Kebbi Grand Qadi, Khalifah Mukhtar Usman, the Disciplinary Committee is charged with the responsibility of ensuring good conduct of all pilgrims, and dispensing justice in cases of transgression.
The State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadeija, is chairing the Security Sub-committee, responsible for security matters prelude to departure in Nigeria, arrival and stay of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
The 2026 Kebbi Amirul Hajj and Head of Government Delegation, rtd. Comptroller-General, Nigerian Correctional Service, Ahmad Ja’afar Jega, appealed to all members to uphold the confidence reposed in them by Governor Nasir Idris for appointing them to such exalted position.
“I implore you to carry out your functions in accordance with stipulated requirements, perform diligently, to complement the efforts of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, towards meeting the target objective of the pilgrimage, which is complete success,” Jega remarked.
