Lagos Diaspora Community Endorses Jandor for 2027 Lagos Governorship Race

Members of the Lagos diaspora community across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom have formally endorsed Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, for the Lagos State governorship seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement was contained in a statement dated Thursday, 23 April, 2026, and signed by the Global Coordinator of Lagos Diaspora-4-Jandor, Akeem Lanade.

In the letter addressed to Lagosians, the group said its decision followed a considered assessment of Jandor’s policy direction, leadership style and public engagement, while urging the APC leadership in Lagos to give due consideration to his aspiration.

The group stated that although its members reside abroad, they maintain strong personal, economic and social ties with Lagos State, adding that their continued connection to the state informed their interest in its governance and future development.

According to the statement, the endorsement also reflects the diaspora community’s commitment to supporting leadership that aligns with the evolving needs of Lagos.

“We, members of the Lagos Diaspora community across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, write to formally convey our endorsement of Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran JANDOR as the gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the group said.

Furthermore, the group said its support was based on Jandor’s emphasis on infrastructure development, transportation efficiency, youth empowerment and the integration of digital innovation into governance.

It noted that such priorities demonstrate a clear understanding of the structural demands of a modern mega city and suggest both responsiveness to immediate challenges and alignment with long-term development goals.

The statement also highlighted Jandor’s ability to engage diverse stakeholders across Lagos, describing him as a politician with inclusive leadership qualities and capacity for coalition-building.

“In addition, Dr. Adediran demonstrates an ability to engage a broad cross-section of stakeholders. His outreach across various demographic groups like the youths, professionals, artisans, and community leaders, indicates a capacity for inclusive leadership and coalition-building, which are critical in a complex and diverse state such as Lagos,” it stated.

The diaspora body equally praised what it described as Jandor’s consistent advocacy on issues affecting Lagos and his willingness to address them with clarity and conviction.

It added that his disposition, coupled with a demonstrable commitment to public service, reinforces confidence in his suitability for higher responsibility.

“In view of the foregoing, we respectfully urge the leadership of the APC in Lagos State to give due consideration to Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran JANDOR in the party’s gubernatorial selection process,” the statement added.

The group reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting initiatives that would contribute to the sustainable growth and prosperity of Lagos State.
