Member representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun, has rolled out a detailed account of his stewardship, outlining legislative interventions, constituency projects and empowerment programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of his people.
Captured in “A Lawmaker’s Logbook, Issue 1–2025,”the scorecard chronicles activities over the past two and a half years across Lagos Mainland, offering constituents a first-hand assessment of his performance and engagement at the Green Chamber.
At the core of the report is a clearly defined vision and mission. Oshun stated that his legislative drive is anchored on “a working society built on purpose-driven laws,” while affirming his role as “the mouthpiece of my constituents… to attract and facilitate laudable projects” and improve livelihoods.
He further assured that he would not relent in raising the standard of representation.
Accordingly, education takes centre stage in his intervention strategy.
Through sustained participation in plenary and committee deliberations, Oshun leveraged opportunities to facilitate the construction and furnishing of classroom blocks at Eletu-Odibo Junior School and St. Peter Primary School within the constituency.
He noted that beyond identifying gaps, deliberate steps were taken to ensure tangible outcomes.
In the same vein, the lawmaker intensified efforts in empowerment and poverty alleviation, particularly in response to the economic strain following fuel subsidy removal.
He explained that targeted initiatives focusing on women and youths were rolled out to cushion the impact. “Programmes like cash support, vocational and skill acquisition training, agricultural training and equipping of youths have been serially undertaken,” he said.
Subsequently, multiple empowerment phases were executed in 2024, covering areas such as make-up, wig-making, event decoration, fishery and poultry farming, as well as entrepreneurship development in collaboration with agencies like SMEDAN.
He added that attention would soon shift to technology-driven training for young school leavers to enhance competitiveness in the digital space.
Meanwhile, infrastructure development featured prominently in his scorecard. Notably, the construction and furnishing of classroom facilities at St. Peter Primary School, Costain, facilitated through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, underscored his commitment to improving learning environments.
Beyond physical projects, Oshun also tackled environmental challenges affecting his constituency.
He formally requested federal intervention on flooding and waste management issues in Makoko and Otumara communities.
The Ecological Project Office acknowledged the request and confirmed its inclusion in its databank for further action, signaling ongoing institutional engagement.
On the legislative front, Oshun sponsored a bill seeking to amend the National Primary Health Care Development Agency Act to strengthen healthcare delivery.
Leading the debate on the motion, he stressed that the absence of functional primary healthcare centres in some local government areas makes access to urgent medical care difficult, especially during emergencies.
In addition, palliative measures formed a critical part of his response to immediate economic hardship. Between 2023 and 2025, several rounds of relief materials and support programmes were distributed, including large-scale interventions targeting thousands of constituents.
Reflecting on his performance, the lawmaker maintained a forward-looking stance.
