Lagos Taskforce Arrests ‘Omotaku’ Touts

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested suspected “Omotaku” touts following two separate incidents of harassment in Lagos.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on Thursday, noting that the incidents occurred at Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki and at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road.

He said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to maintain order and protect road users.

According to Wahab, a truck driver whose vehicle had broken down at Marwa Bus Stop was confronted and threatened by suspected touts who demanded his phone and money.

In a similar incident at Palmgrove, the suspects reportedly attempted to harass motorists and other road users.

Operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce, in a swift response apprehended the suspects before the situations escalated.

Wahab said that the arrested individuals would be processed in accordance with the law while reaffirming the state government’s zero tolerance for harassment, intimidation, and unlawful activities on public roads.

He emphasized that enforcement operations would continue across identified hotspots, assuring residents that the government remains committed to keeping roads safe, protecting motorists, and restoring order across the state.
