
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, Wednesday, described the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as a repertoire of history and knowledge.
Oba Owoade said this in a statement through his director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, to commemorate the four-year remembrance of the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi
He pointed out that the late Oba Adeyemi was a royal and authority icon who represented an epitome of humility and wisdom, and who had stayed at the forefront protecting the unity and integrity of the nation as an accomplished compatriot.
“The late Alaafin used his exalted position to move the country back on the track of peace and also maintained his honesty of purpose, no matter whose ox is gored.
“Not only does the late Alaafin impress the knowledgeable audience with his mastery of colonial history, his captivating speeches usually attracted rounds of standing ovations that left the audience wondering if he was indeed a monarch or a visiting Professor of African History.”
While stating that the late Oba Adeyemi was a story teller and an incorrigible performer,he added that when he spoke in Yoruba and English languages, you marvel at his depth of knowledge.
He said his late predecessor was a ” father with a large heart whose antecedents and precedents were worthy of emulation.”
