Leicester City have been relegated to League One, completing a stunning fall from grace just 10 years after their historic Premier League title win.

A 2-2 draw with Hull City at the King Power Stadium confirmed back-to-back relegations and consigned the Foxes to the third tier for only the second time in their 142-year history.

In the game on Tuesday night, April 21, Leicester needed a win to keep survival hopes alive but handed Hull the lead when goalkeeper Asmir Begovic misplayed a pass straight to Liam Millar, who calmly finished.

Hope returned after the break. Jordan James levelled from the penalty spot after Lewis Koumas fouled Abdul Fatawu. Moments later, Luke Thomas volleyed home from close range to spark belief among a restless crowd.

The revival proved short-lived. Oli McBurnie smashed in Hull’s equaliser to silence the stadium and push Leicester closer to the brink. Late chances came and went. Patson Daka struck the woodwork, Aaron Ramsey missed openings and Semi Ajayi blocked a stoppage-time effort from Thomas.

Hull’s point was not enough to keep them in the play-off spots, but it confirmed Leicester’s fate.

The club were docked six points earlier this season for historical spending breaches, yet even without the penalty, they would still be in the drop zone.

Meanwhile, Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic has steered his side into promotion contention despite operating under a transfer embargo.
