Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, endured a frustrating afternoon as Udinese slipped to a 1-0 home defeat against Parma in the Serie A earlier today, April 18.
Maduka Okoye played the full 90 minutes and produced a string of sharp saves to keep his side in contention. Yet Udinese’s resistance ended early in the second half when substitute Nesta Elphege struck in the 51st minute to silence the home crowd. The goal was Okoye’s first in four games.
The Nigerian international was making his 24th league appearance of the season. He has now conceded 26 goals while keeping nine clean sheets in a campaign that has seen Udinese hover around mid-table. The defeat leaves the club 11th on 43 points, while Parma climb to 13th with 39 points as the race for top-half stability tightens.
In England, Frank Onyeka is set to complete a permanent move to Coventry City after the club secured promotion to the Premier League.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Sky Blues sealed their return to the top flight with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Friday night.
Onyeka joined Coventry on loan from Brentford in January under an agreement that included a permanent switch if promotion was achieved. That condition has now been met.
The midfielder has become a key figure in the resurgence led by manager Frank Lampard, helping steady the team during a decisive run-in. Coventry are preparing for their first Premier League campaign in 25 years.
Since arriving, the 28-year-old has made 11 league appearances and scored once. His move offers a fresh start after limited opportunities at Brentford and a previous loan spell with Augsburg in the Bundesliga.
