Pep Guardiola has expressed sympathy for Liam Rosenior after the coach was dismissed by Chelsea following a heavy defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Rosenior lost his job on Wednesday in the wake of Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League defeat on Sunday. Guardiola said he felt sorry for the 41-year-old and believes he belongs at the top level.
Speaking after Manchester City beat Burnley 1-0, Guardiola said, “I’m so sorry.
“I’m pretty sure he is a manager for that level.
“Always when this happens, I always think about how lucky, again, I am to be in the club where I am.”
City’s narrow win sent them back to the summit of the Premier League for the first time since August and intensified the title race with Arsenal.
Both sides sit on 70 points with a goal difference of 37. City lead the table on goals scored, with 66 compared to Arsenal’s 63.
Guardiola admitted the run-in leaves no margin for error. “Now we have the FA Cup, and after that we have five games. The only chance for the title is to win all the games,” he said.
City last lifted the Premier League trophy in 2023 under Guardiola and must maintain a perfect finish to stay ahead in the title race.
