A civic group, the People’s Demand Initiative (PDI), has called on Princess Hadiza Musa Ujah Offoboche to declare her intention to contest the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made during simultaneous press briefings held on Saturday in Abuja and Yala, Cross River state, with members from both Ogoja and Yala chapters in attendance.
Speaking in Abuja, PDI spokesperson, Comrade Patrick Livingston, said the call was based on Offoboche’s track record in humanitarian service, grassroots engagement and strategic connections.
He noted that her philanthropic work through the Hadiza Musa Ujah Offoboche Foundation, particularly in healthcare, education and economic empowerment, had earned widespread recognition across the Northern District of Cross River.
According to him, the foundation has supported local health centres with medical equipment, distributed educational materials to underprivileged pupils and provided financial assistance to women for small-scale businesses.
Livingston added that her regular community visits and outreach programmes had strengthened her visibility and acceptance among constituents.
A member of the group, Miss Ajegi, said Offoboche’s empathy and commitment to service make her a strong candidate for public office.
“Her consistency and selflessness should translate into a platform where she can do more for the people,” she said.
The group also cited her affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River as a strategic advantage, noting that her engagement supports grassroots mobilisation for the administration of Gov. Bassey Edet Otu and complements initiatives led by the First Lady, Eyoawan Bassey Otu.
At the Yala briefing, moderated by Comrade Austin Imoke, participants emphasised the need for a candidate with empathy and a commitment to development, describing Offoboche’s potential candidacy as a natural progression from philanthropy to political leadership.
The PDI maintained that growing support from constituents underscores the urgency of her entering the race, as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.
