A cleric with the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST), Rev. Iortsughun Korinjo, has said marriage is ordained by God and therefore a sacred institution that must be respected by all mankind.
The man of God stated this at the wedding ceremony between Godwin Aondohemba Tavaku, and Miss Queen (Torkwase) Shiorkor Kpev, recently.
Rev. Korinjo, who stood in for the senior pastor, Rev. L.W. Msonga (JP) of the NKST, Gwagwalada, Abuja, admonished the couple to work in love and unity in order to raise a generation of God-fearing children.
He said marriage is not a mistake even in the face of challenges, which he said require understanding and patience and forgiveness.
He stated that marriage as ordained by God is “a good thing that can be improved, similar to how Adam was tasked with dressing the garden.” He said husbands are encouraged to act as cultivators, transforming the marriage from “good to better and to best.”
Rev. Korinjo noted that marriage requires commitment, humility to thrive
“It is a sacred union intended for a lifetime, designed by God. The results indicate a strong emphasis within Christian ministry that marriage is a divine institution designed by God, requiring intentional effort to maintain,” he stated.
Earlier, the father of the groom, Mr. Joseph Ortserga Tavaku, who was visibly happy, thanked God for keeping him alive to witness the marriage of his son.
He advised the couple to adhere to marriage rites, procedures, and biblical principles to ensure long term stability in their union.
The groom, Godwin, promised to love and cherish his spouse till death do them part.
