Moises Caicedo has pledged his long-term future to Chelsea after agreeing to a lucrative contract extension that runs until 2033.
The 24-year-old Ecuador international pushed for improved terms following Chelsea’s triumphs in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
His previous eight-year deal followed a record £100m move from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023, a fee that could rise to £115m and has since been eclipsed by Liverpool’s £125m signing of Alexander Isak.
“I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea,” Caicedo said. “I believe in this team, this club and I know we’re going in the right direction. We’ve only just begun together.
“There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans.
“We have enjoyed some great times together already and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend, and I will work as hard as possible to make that happen.”
NOP NIGERIA reports that the renewal is part of a wider push to reward key performers. Club captain Reece James has already signed fresh terms, while Cole Palmer previously secured a pay rise tied to performance targets.
Under former head coach Enzo Maresca, Caicedo started every Premier League match last season. This season, he has remained ever-present, making 42 appearances and scoring five goals from a defensive midfield role.
Contract talks are ongoing with Enzo Fernández and Levi Colwill. NOP NIGERIA reports that Fernández recently returned from an internal suspension after comments linking him with Real Madrid, while his agent Javier Pastore insisted the midfielder “deserves much more than he is currently earning”.
Next up, Chelsea face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge at 8 p.m. on Saturday as the Blues chase Champions League qualification.
