The Kuturmi Unity Development Association (KUDA) has dismissed reports that 31 persons abducted during Easter service in Ariko community of Kachia Local Government Area (LGA) have been rescued by the Nigerian Army.

In a statement issued by its President, Joseph David Ariko, and Publicity Secretary, Manasseh Samuel, the association described the claim as false and misleading.

The group said contrary to the reports in circulation, all the abducted persons remain in captivity with their abductors.

According to the statement, families of the victims are still in contact with the kidnappers, who have confirmed that the abductees have been taken to their camp.

“This clearly invalidates any claim of a successful rescue operation,” the association said.

While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies in tackling insecurity, KUDA expressed concern over the circulation of what it described as inaccurate information on such a sensitive matter.

It noted that false reports could create confusion, give families false hope, and erode public trust in official communication.

The association therefore, urged the Nigerian Army and other relevant authorities to ensure that only verified information is released to the public.

It added that “the safe return of the abducted persons remains the priority of the community and called for intensified efforts to secure their unconditional release.”

KUDA also expressed solidarity with the affected families and assured that updates would be provided as credible information becomes available.
