
It was really fun as holiday makers enjoyed their Easter Sunday and Monday holidays with pomp and pageantry through the platform created by MTN Nigeria known as MTN Family Fun Fair.
Thousands of families made up of adults and children trooped to the Owerri Mall (Shoprite Centre) where they enjoyed themselves. There was rafflle draw and lots of foods, drinks and gift items like umbrellas, caps, note pads, gas cookers, television, generators, refrigerators, bags of rice, keke Napep vehicle which the winner missed and forfitted because he left after buying his raffle ticket, and free tickets for movie at the cinema .
Some prominent musicians like Achara man and Cola boy performed on stage. There were freeze dance, Be-in Zero, One, Two, Three; Four, and Five game, family sessions where husbands were given an opportunity to tie their wives’ headscarfs and wives given opportunity to knot their husbands ties. Yellow Santa Claus, MTN’s version of Father Christmas was on grround to hand over the gift items to the participants.
The followong day, Easter Monday afforded the holiday makers the opportunity to relax and watch a movie, “The Crreek”which focussed on the problems in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Commenting on the MTN Family Fun Fair show, the state Manager of MTN in Imo, Chibuike Obilor, welcomed back customers who were at the 2025 show and disclosed that arrangements were on top gear to make the 2026 edition more exciting with better experiences.
He said, “Check out the environment, green and set for the occasion. There are lots of things to make both children and adults happy. So, we are ready to flow with you to make you happy, have a great experience, think and remember MTN. So, MTN is Yellow and No 1 communication company in Nigeria and we want to remain No 1 coutesy of all of you seated here”.
Also commenting on the family fun fair, the Managing Director of a major MTN partner in the state, OZB Communications, Barr Ijeoma Ozuruigbo, said without mincing words that MTN Nigeria has blessed families including hers.
“MTN Nigeria has given scholarship tp people and through their foundation, they have given back to society. They help the less privileged and provide healrhcare and businesses to people and I am benefitting. And Iwant to say thank you to them because they have made life less stressful”, she said.
A customer, Comrade Pastor Opara, prayed for more patronage and enlarged customer base to balance their social responsibility to the people. For Prince Akano Edward Musa who won a generator, he said his data customer told him about the event and prayed MTN not to relent in their efforts to help mankind.
The Easter Monday Movie Show at the Genesis Hall got viewers glued to their seats as they watched a Niger Delta movie titled ” The Creek”. Musicians and commedians, Prince Mickey and Teddy Universe said it was a typical example of what happens in the country, where government’s neglect of the people’s dividends of democracy leads to youth restivenes, kidnapping and other crimes.
They said because of oil control, youth groups fought themselves and lost their lives. They said that the movie also centered on criminality and cultism among youths in the Niger Delta Region and commended MTN for the exciting moments.
