Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has shared a deeply personal story about how his family initially reacted to his career choice in acting, revealing that acceptance did not come easily at home.
Speaking on his journey, Arukwe disclosed that his father was slow to acknowledge his profession, even though he had heard about his success in the entertainment industry. According to him, his father struggled to accept that acting was a real and stable career path, choosing instead to remain unconvinced despite growing evidence of his achievements.
“My father doesn’t know that I’m an actor, he has heard, but he doesn’t want to believe,” he said, highlighting the emotional distance that sometimes comes when traditional expectations clash with creative ambitions.
The actor also opened up about his mother’s initial hesitation. He explained that her reaction was influenced by her respect for her husband’s views, which made it harder for her to fully embrace his decision at first. However, with time and continued progress in his career, she eventually came around and began to support him.
“My mum was slow to adapt because of her husband but she later came around,” he added.
