The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out successful precision airstrikes that destroyed terrorist structures and hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State, further weakening insurgent operations in the region.
In a statement issued on Saturday, April 25, 2026, by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the strikes were executed by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.
The operation took place on Friday, April 24, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m. (1850 hours) over Ali Sheriffti, a well-known terrorist enclave in Southern Tumbuns.
Acting on credible intelligence about insurgent activities, NAF air assets conducted a focused surveillance sweep.
During the mission, several terrorists were spotted moving along concealed tracks before being trailed to structures deliberately hidden under dense foliage.
Following positive identification, the aircraft delivered a precise strike using onboard munitions, successfully engaging and destroying the targeted structures.
“The operation achieved the desired effect, with terrorist structures destroyed, further degrading their capability and freedom of movement in the area,” the statement noted.
It highlighted NAF’s ongoing commitment to intelligence-led, precision-driven operations aimed at denying terrorists safe havens.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the service’s determination, stating that the NAF will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks “with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach.”
He added that operations will be intensified to safeguard the nation and its citizens.
This latest action forms part of sustained high-tempo air operations under Operation Hadin Kai, which have consistently pressured terrorist elements in the North East by disrupting their logistics and hideouts.
The strikes come as the military maintains pressure on remnants of groups like ISWAP and Boko Haram in Borno, aiming to restore security and enable normalcy in affected communities.
