Senator Muhammed Sabo Nakudu, a prominent politician in Jigawa state, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Nakudu, a two-term senator representing Jigawa South West senatorial district, submitted his resignation letter to his Sundimina ward in Birnin Kudu local government area Friday last week.

The defection ceremony, held weekend in Dutse, was attended by a large crowd, including top ADC officials.

Nakudu’s defection is part of a larger trend of politicians abandoning their parties for the ADC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Other notable politicians who have joined the ADC include Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, a three-time governorship candidate, and Ubale Shitu, a prominent chieftain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nakudu, who was the chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum “Downstream” in the 9th Assembly, is expected to contest the governorship of Jigawa state in 2027 on the ADC platform.

ADC leaders in Jigawa state have welcomed Nakudu and pledged to work together towards the party’s growth.

Hon Bashir Adamu Jumbo, one of the party’s leaders, assured Nakudu of equal opportunities within the party structure and called on supporters to unite behind the party’s vision.

Nakudu, in his speech, thanked his supporters and promised to work towards a greater Jigawa and Nigeria.
