A group under the auspices of Nasarawa North Political Consultative Forum have called for unity, political cohesion, and socio-economic advancement of Nasarawa North Senatorial zone.
They made the call in a communique jointly signed by its chairman, Senator John M. Danboyi and secretary Prof. Salih A. Alizaga, Tuesday, after the 4th meeting of the forum in Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA).
The meeting focused particularly on the forthcoming 2026 Senatorial bye-election and the 2027 general elections in Nasarawa state and Nigeria.
“Following extensive deliberations, members overwhelmingly resolved that the Forum noted with concern the persistent lack of unity within the Zone, largely driven by growing mistrust among stakeholders.
“This has led to reduced political bargaining power at state and National levels, fragmented representation in key state and national institutions, heightened intra-community tensions, and missed opportunities for collective progress,” it said.
On the 2026 senatorial bye-election, the forum resolved that Nasarawa Eggon LGA be allowed to complete the tenure of the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki, following the vacancy declared by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Also in the 2027 governorship election, in line with its earlier communiqué of December 29, 2025, the forum reaffirmed its position and strongly recommended that Nasarawa Eggon LGA produce the governorship candidate.
On zoning of other elective positions in 2027, the forum further resolved that the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat be zoned to Akwanga LGA, and the House of Representatives seat be zoned to Wamba LGA.
