Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun State, has openly endorsed Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election.

The declaration was made during a strategic APC caucus meeting involving party leaders and stakeholders, where discussions focused on succession plans and preparations for the next election cycle.

In a video clip from the meeting, Abiodun told party members that a decision had already been reached on who should fly the party’s flag.

“But first, we’ve decided who is deserving as the next flag bearer of our dear state,” the governor said.

Following the announcement, Adeola stood up to loud cheers from supporters, with chants and celebrations filling the venue.

Abiodun also spoke on the importance of political continuity within the APC, referencing previous leadership transitions and stressing the need for unity in selecting a successor capable of sustaining the party’s dominance in the state.

The meeting, attended by key party figures, is seen as a major development ahead of the 2027 governorship race, with insiders suggesting the endorsement could shape and potentially narrow the field of aspirants within the party.
