The political crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress escalated on Monday after former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, alleged that he was barred from attending a crucial stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Ijebu Ode.

Daniel made the claim in a viral video on Monday, where he was seen addressing supporters from a branded campaign bus at the venue of the meeting, held at the Adeola Odutola Hall.

According to him, despite arriving for what he described as an Ogun East APC caucus meeting, he and his supporters were denied entry by organisers.

“We are here for our Ogun East APC caucus meeting, but surprisingly, we have been barred. We are told that we can’t enter, but let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void,” he said.

The meeting, convened by party leaders in Ijebu Ode, was said to be an emergency stakeholders’ gathering, with invitations extended to a wide range of party figures, including deputy governors, past and serving local government chairmen, councillors, and current and former members of both the state and National Assembly.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that supportere of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun took over the meeting and barred Daniel and his supporters from the meeting

Daniel’s exclusion is expected to heighten tensions within the Ogun APC, particularly in the Ogun East Senatorial District, where political alignments ahead of future elections have continued to generate controversy.

The development adds to growing concerns over internal cohesion within the party, as stakeholders continue to jostle for influence in the build-up to forthcoming political contests.
