Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen is expected to resume full training on 20 April ahead of the season’s biggest domestic showdown against Fenerbahce on April 26.

Reports from Aksam Newspaper indicate Victor Osimhen is on schedule in his recovery from the forearm injury he suffered during last month’s UEFA Champions League tie with Liverpool. The Premier League side ended up winning the tie 4-1 on aggregate following a 4-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the second-leg of the fixture.

NOP NIGERIA reports that the 27-year-old Nigerian international underwent surgery shortly after the second-leg tie and has been undergoing rehabilitation away from the first-team squad.

Osimhen’s expected return could hardly come at a better time for coach Okan Buruk, whose side are locked in a tense title race. Galatasaray were beaten 2-1 by Trabzonspor at Papara Park last weekend, a setback that exposed the team’s lack of cutting edge without their leading scorer.

Osimhen has been one of the standout performers in Turkish football this season. He has scored 19 league goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances, playing a decisive role in keeping Galatasaray at the top for much of the campaign. His blend of pace, strength and relentless pressing has made him the most effective player at the Turkish giants.
