
Oyo state Police command on Friday declared that its determined to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration across the state.
The command made this known in a statement by its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, to congratulate Christian faithful across Oyo state on this year’s Easter celebration.
According to the PPRO, the command will ensure maximum security coverage across worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, and other public spaces throughout the Easter celebration.
He stressed that towards this, the Command has put in place comprehensive, strategic, and intelligence-led security deployments across the State to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festivity.
The PPRO noted that these proactive measures are in line with the directive and policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at strengthening public safety and boosting citizens’ confidence.
” In anticipation of the forthcoming Easter celebration, the Oyo State Police Command has put in place comprehensive, strategic, and intelligence-led security deployments across the State to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festivity”, he said.
The PPRO added ” These proactive measures are in line with the directive and policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at strengthening public safety and boosting citizens’ confidence”.
” Consequent upon the above, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, extends warm congratulations to the Christian faithful on the occasion of Easter. He enjoin all citizens to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence, while also reflecting on the lessons of Lent and offering prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of the state and the nation at large”.
While reassuring residents in the state of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebration, DSP Ayanlade said the Command is working in close synergy with other security agencies to ensure maximum security coverage across critical locations, including worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, and other public spaces.
He then called for deeper cooperation from members of the public, particularly in the area of timely and credible information sharing, adding that accurate and timely information remains the fuel upon which effective policing thrives, and without it, policing operations would be significantly challenged.
DSP Ayanlade charged residents in the state to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through available emergency channels.
