Police Arrest Three Suspects for Inter-State Gun-Running, Kidnapping in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in an inter-state gun-running and kidnapping network.

The arrests were made during a coordinated sting operation. On April 23, 2026, the command’s tactical team based in Ughelli arrested a suspect in Ughelli.

He was caught alongside Haruna Jibrin, a 30-year-old native of Wase in Plateau State, who was reportedly set to facilitate the movement of arms from Ughelli to Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

A follow-up operation on April 24, 2026, led to the arrest of another accomplice, Isiyaku Adamu, aged 38, in Rivers State.

During the operation, police recovered one AK-47 rifle and a blue Toyota Corolla with registration number MUS 138 DJ, which was allegedly used in the criminal activity.

Confirming the arrests, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said in a statement issued in Warri:“In a coordinated sting operation on 23 April 2026, operatives of the command’s tactical team based in Ughelli arrested a suspect in Ughelli for involvement in an inter-state gun-running and kidnapping network.”He added that investigations are ongoing.

The arrests are part of efforts by the Delta State Police Command to dismantle criminal networks involved in the illegal movement of arms and kidnapping across state lines.
