Final matches in the state rounds of the President Federation Cup will be played across 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory this weekend, with Lagos State granted a postponement.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the state finals are scheduled for Saturday, 25 April and Sunday, 26 April. The winners will progress to the national play-off stage ahead of the draw for the national competition.
NOP NIGERIA reports that all the Nigeria Premier Football League Games (NPFL) were postponed for two weeks to give room for the 2026 President Federation Cup. This means that Matchday 36 fixtures are now scheduled for May 3, with matchday 37 set for May 10.
Another pause will follow on May 16 and 17 to allow for the Federation Cup window before the final round of matches closes the season on May 24.
Lagos State will stage its Federation Cup final on Sunday, 3 May after securing approval due to the unavailability of the proposed venue, which will be used for an official event by the Lagos State Government.
A statement from the NFF earlier today, April 24, reads: “NFF’s Director of Competitions, Ruth David, reiterated that failure of any State (apart from Lagos State where the proposed venue for the final is being used for an official function by the Lagos State Government) to play its final match this weekend will attract a fine of ₦1,000,000.”
