The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, has strengthened international collaboration with the Taipei Trade Office as part of efforts to combat rising transnational financial crimes.
Commissioner of Police, CP Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, led the engagement with Taiwan’s Head of Mission, Andy Yih-Ping Liu, focusing on intelligence sharing, joint investigations, and coordinated strategies to tackle fraud syndicates operating across borders.
The meeting comes amid growing concerns over sophisticated scams targeting foreign investments, including Taiwan’s expanding business interests.
Both parties agreed to deepen cooperation through information exchange, capacity building, and mutual support in tracking and prosecuting offenders.
CP Okpoziakpo stressed that global partnerships are critical in disrupting international fraud networks, noting that “no single jurisdiction can effectively tackle transnational crimes alone.”
The Taiwan envoy welcomed the initiative, pledging closer collaboration with Nigerian authorities to curb fraud and protect legitimate investments.
